Preliminary Research:

Hip-Hop started all back in Brooklyn, New York in the late 70's, early 80's. Back then it was more of a disco thing than just rapping and lyrics. It consisted of good baselines and nice drum kicks. Early artist included Afrika Bambaataa and Dj Cool Herc. Over time the culture starting to change which lead to Dj's, beat boxing, break dancing, and actual MC's.
Over time the culture has change many times and has also been criticized by many as a bad genre because of some rappers’ message, but not all are the same.
Some people that dignify Hip-Hop are MC’s like:

· Jay-Z
· Nas
· Biz Markie
· Dougie Fresh
· De La soul
· Naughty by Nature
· Eric B & Rakim
· Big Daddy Kane
· A Tribe Called Quest
· Beastie Boys
· Common
· Wu-Tang Clan
· Tupac
· Notorious B.I.G.
· Outkast
· Pharcyde
· Public Enemy
Most people that enjoy Hip-Hop leave in coastal regions like New York, Florida, and California.

Most Hip-Hop artist market themselves by just being original with their style, or getting endorsements for big companies to market the products such as clothing, sneakers, phone, etc,.
For more known and appreciated artist they perform at large venues such a Madison Square Garden.
For smaller or not well known artist they might perform in music halls or pavilions until the blow up big on the scene.

Assignment 2

Band/Artist Biography:

Bio: Cardiac Arrest started in Houston, TX back in 2005 with a group of childhood friends. The group consists of three members: Giovanni Bradford - PopRockS, Chris Sevilla – Slick Daddy Cee, and Brandon Andrade – bPhresh! They all attended Spring Woods High where all of them started to rhyme during lunch and record tracks in a friend’s closet. The recorded mixtape’s and had one album made while in high school. The album did well considering it had no promotion once so ever and sold 20,000 units.
Slick Daddy Cee is know for producing the beats and engineering the groups sound as for bPhresh! and PopRockS and the rhyme spitters. bPhresh! is know his laid back chill sound, as for PopRocks is the more energetic of the two and more intense in his rap.
There fame rised as they performed shows around the Houston area just for fun. Until Jay-Z seen them perform one night. He was so impressed about the groups’ lyrical ability and there stage presence, he invited them to New York where they signed a deal with Roc Nation. They have released two more albums with the self titled “Cardiac Arrest” and “Wanted: Dead or Alive” on the new label. Both albums went platinum and stay on the top of the charts for 4 months straight.
They have been compared as the protégé’s of old school raps such as De La Soul and Run DMC and Geto Boys. Their new album and tour Arrest Warrant is the most anticipated album to date.
Their tour will be held sometime in the future.
